I've got three giveaways this time. Well, three versions of the same little wallet (so three winners), and it's up to you to decide which one you'd like. I made them from Valori Wells' Little Wallet and it is the most awesome stash buster pattern you've ever come across. All those little, little scraps of favorite fabric you've saved are perfect for it, and it's quick (which is why I'm giving away three, I actually made six but three others are Christmas gifts).
| from left to right: brushed cotton houndstooth wallet (for the serious), gold organza wallet (for the New Year's Eve Party), floral cotton wallet (for every day fun!) |
| The insides (also the fun part of picking out the fabrics) |
Or, you can tell me what your favorite adult women patterns are. My "baby" is two and I'm still wearing postpartum clothes. Mama needs a new wardrobe!
Make sure to tell me which wallet you prefer, and leave an email address so I can contact you! International entries welcomed!
Oh, and I don't want to hear it about the photo quality. Oregon has not seen the sun in TWO WEEKS! (Stupid high pressure inversion). That's the best I could do. And yes, I could totally stand in for an albino, or vampire (minus the sparkle part).
Good Luck!

I really like the Black/gray wallet. My favorite marker is the silver roller pen...not sure the brand name. It is available in yellow, too, I believe.

I use an air soluble marking pen that I have no idea what the brand is. It's light blue. I tried using pencils, but it just didn't work out for me.
And I love the purple one.
You're in Oregon? For some reason I thought you were in Australis. Hmmm.
I use a little blue air soluble marking pen. Of all the ones I've tried, it's my favorite ... but it still leaves something to be desired.
My favorite wallet is the red one with flowers and polka dots. Too cute!
I love the houndstooth. I have a re-loadable chalk pencil that I got at the local quilting store. It comes with a whole bunch of different colors and a sharpener. It works really, really well on wovens, but less well on knits.
As for patterns, I prefer to wear skirts and dresses but need washable and comfortable enough to chase my kiddos in all day. These have been my current favorites:

We're getting sun on this side of the Willamette Valley, after the fog burns off most days, but sheesh it's not warm out there. As a lifelong Oregonian I've simply resigned myself to my 9mos a year of pastiness.
What lovely wallets! I adore all of them, but I think the floral cotton is my favourite (I'm a floral kinda gal). So far my favourite marking tool is the good old dressmakers pencil, although I admit I've never used it for anything where a leftover mark wouldn't be hidden anyway
Thanks for the giveaway
Sarah @ http://kiwigetscrafty.blogspot.com
ohhh I love the red wallet! My favourite marking tool is the Hera Marker by clover but I don't know if it will work with patterns (it works great with quilts).
I use tailor tacks. I learned those in high school sewing class.. a little thread in a needle and one little stitch and leave thread tails
I like the floral wallet- and I have two ways I mark darts depending on how much time I have.
The first is I run a pin through the patter papper and into the fabric- then I hold a water soluble marking pen on the side of the pin- the ink runs down and marks the dot. I line pins up all along the dart lines and leave little rows of perfectly placed dots.
If I have lots of time, or expensive fabric, I just to a tailors tack.
I've only tried the chalk pencil...these are beautiful!
I have no preference between the three--each are fabulous for different reasons :-)
I typically aim for Simplicity patterns, if any.
I'm not big on marking tools--just standard chalk pencils or rollers with marking paper work for me.
I love that red wallet.
My favorite tool are some cheap clover pencils. Not all pencils are good though. I have a few that don't mark at all and I hate.
I like the houndstooth wallet best! As for a marking tool, well, I just don't do it, but I just have a basic chalk pencil for when I think about doing it. HA!
Beautiful wallets! I use the air soluble purple pen (don't remember the brand) and it seems to work pretty good.
I am loving the red one (inside and out).
I use a biro pen to do markings - is that bad??
I am joining in hte give awaym do come over and say hi
http://sewasecondchance.blogspot.com/
I mostly use a regular pencil for marking. I like the houndstooth wallet. Thanks for the giveaway! robyn(dot)geddes(at)gmail(dot)com
My favorite is the floral. I'm in need of a new marking tool as well, I'm currently using a Crayola washable marker!
mindfulhome at gmail dot com
Houndstooth! (Or shiny... that's fun too.) I'm in the "generally don't do it" category; when I do, I use a straight pin, marking the end of the dart, and put a little triangle jag out around the fabric where the dart starts. I've never enjoyed the chalk unless I have to use it.
I think your photos are just fine :) I have started using a hera marker and really like that. I just recently made a play mat for my cousin's baby, and used it to draw the lines I wanted to quilt, and I've never had such straight lines! :)
Love the floral Amy Butler wallet. Very pretty.
I use plain old classroom chalk that I turn through the pencil sharpener to get a nice, fine point. Easy to see on dark fabrics, and brushes right off.
Hope this helps, and thanks for the opportunity to enter!
Love that red floral wallet! It looks like such a cute little pattern!
I always use chalk, Iand I buy it in big triangles. :) the only problem is when you drop it!
I love the Hera marker, but I'm not sure if it would work with darts. But it might!
michaelacking (at) gmail (d0t) com
I love the red floral wallet, though I really like all three to be honest! My fav. Marking tools are usually chalk pencils but honestly, I just use the pattern right before needing certain marks and then put a pin or something else in it for a minute or two.
nancebagance at yahoo dot ca
I really like the houndstooth wallet. Great fabric choices.
I haven't made much women's clothing, though I did make the Simplicity 2226 skirt when Anna at Noodlehead hosted a sew along. It turned out surprisingly well.
kristie_keely(at)yahoo(d0t)com
I'm still pretty post-partum as well (mine are one and three) so it has been years since I've worn much of anything that isn't stretchy. And I avoid making clothing for myself since I know it won't still fit a few months later. Sorry I can't be of more help!
None of my fabric-marking tools work either. I often either use a highlighter or ink pen and just make sure it can't be seen through. I've found that highlighter washes out if I use a stain remover on it. Isn't that terrible?
To be honest, I usually mark with permanent marker....probably a bad habit.
dramallama56(at)hotmail(dot)com
Love the wallets! they're so cute :)
I love the houndstooth wallet - they are very sweet!
I use the silver roller maker (marks with chalk) made by Clover.
I'm no real help as far as dart. For outlining patterns etc (things that will be hidden in the SA) I use a super fine tip sharpie. I love them. But for marking things that can be seen, I'm stuck with that Clover chalk pen thingie.
And I love, LOVE the floral wallet. I think I'll look into buying that pattern too. Right on for the stash busting !
Love the houndstooth!
I use the cheapo water soluble and/or disappearing ink pens. Sorry, that can't possibly help you! :(
I love the red/floral one! Beautiful!
I use a weird yellow chalk in a plastic case/dispenser thing that was once given to me by a much older sewist. I don't even know where I'll buy more chalk to go in it when I run out! haha Wish I could help more!
Oh how lovely! I love the gold one, largely because of the lining fabric you choose!
I don't really like any marking pens I've tried either, although I've mostly been liking my newish Sewline ones. (They're awkward for felt, but so is everything, so I can't blame that on Sewline.)
(clumsy.chord(at)gmail.com)
i use the clover disappearing ink pens
Love the floral purse (although the gold one is a close second). My favourite marking tool is a white pencil (water colour pencils work well).
I like the foral one and favourite marking pen would have to be my water erasable one. Brand...I would not have a clue as it is missing curretly
chalk, snips, tacks
I can't decide which is my favorite. I guess the houndstooth but I would be happy with any. For markings, I have used the crayola crayons that can be washed out.
I use a water / air soluble pen for anything major, but most of the time I just use pins to mark fabric.
aprilly (at) gmail (dot) com
I love the red wallet.
i have a little chalk marker tool that rolls along the fabric leaving a precise line - it works if you stitich straight away.
I love the red floral cotton wallet!
I use chalk for marking but I'm looking for better suggestions in the comments.
I use one of those marking pens that's air soluble for short term marks.
I like the gold or the flowery one!!
Thanks for the great giveaway!

Hi, all the 3 are lovely, but I think I like most the flower one (the right one).
I can's answer your question cause I don't sew, I like to crochet and to knit :) and about cloths, well, I like Zara and Massimo Dutti.
I prefer the red one with flowers, although all are beatiful.
I sew very little and I don't use marker pens... Only a pencil when I really need it...
I have found the sew line pencils in different colors work great. I also am now trying the frixion pens which will iron out. i think you can get both of these at quilt stores and maybe even an office supply store for the frixion.
I can't find a good marking tool either. My Mom had this chalk bar thing like an eraser shape that worked really well but we haven't found anything like it since. The pencils are all pretty junky.
I like the floral one, but the gold one is nice too...would be good for formal night on a cruise or just a fun night out :)
I love the floral cotton one!
I'm afraid I can't be much help as far as a marking tool suggestion, as I have not been able to find one that actually works. I thought I must be using them wrong or something. So frustrating!
My birthday is Saturday, and this would be a great birthday present!
Great wallets! I really should get that pattern!
I use the Frixion pen for marking - I think they're brilliant! (They're great for sudoku too!)
i don't use a marking pen!! i hate the one i just tried from joann's...i think it may have been blue. didn't do what i wanted...so i'm going to read through these comments. i love the flowered wallet! so cute. and I love this pattern! fernsfrocks (at) gmail (dot) com... :-)
Hello, cute wallets. I love the floral one - bright and cheerful. My go to for marking darts is plain ole chalk. Sorry that hasn't worked out for you. Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway. Linda
rodlindafansler at gmail dot com
I use a mechanical pencil with the white or black reloadable "lead" - I think it comes in other colors, too. Good luck on your search! I love your wallets - they are SUPER cute and stylish, but still serve a much needed purpose!
Sis Boom make some cute adult patterns--and some for younger girls, too! Easy to follow :)
out of need I started using my old thick colour pens from school days, skin-coloured on dark ground, and a dark rich brown on light ground. Works fine for me and can be easily "undone" ... and be sharpend to the need..
Good luck with your search!
I love the floral cotton wallet. I don't really use pencils and I never sew adult clothes! I will have to read through the comments to get advice for myself too!
I love the Houndstooth and Floral patterns. I don't have a marking tool that I like either. Maybe your comments will help me out too!
I really like Built By You 3835 (Built By Wendy). I've made a couple of shirts and they are dainty and nice.
I've used the water/air soluable marker...it's fine but not great. I like the houndstooth.
sntbosch@msn.com
Honestly, I just usually use pins. I'm not much for marking things...maybe it's a fault, but imo it's a pain. =)
Your pouches are adorable and I've made some as gifts...but not for myself. =) Thanks for a chance to win.
I'm not much help to you. I have a couple pencils from Joanns that I am unimpressed with. I have not ventured into sewing for myself yet. Only for my daughter and other projects
Oh, and I love the houndstooth
i wing it. i don't use any markings. i just eyeball.
I agree that they all stink. I use a regular marker or sharpie and make sure not to let it show. :)
I use plain old chalk. I love the red flower one. Thanks
My favourite is the floral one :) I don't really use anything fancy, just a marking pencil like my mum did, sorry I can't be more help!
kate1485 at hotmail.com
As a completely novice sewer (just learning!!) I don't have an awesome product suggestion for you. I've just been to Joann's as well. But I'd be curious to hear what comes back as a good recommendation! :)
I love the houndstooth fabric. I'm big into girly things in more traditionally manly patterns and such.
Thanks for the contest!
I love these wallets-super pretty. no idea on the fav marking tool-I need to find one too-i usually use a pencil or worse, a sharpie!
Still using some crappy chalk... I need a better way to make lines too! I really like the houndstooth bag! Thanks for the chance!
I use the purple vanishing ink thingy (the one that needs water) because otherwise if you don't get to it in time then it vanishes...
I'd choose the floral cotton one, and I use regular old school chalk to mark with. :) Thanks for the chance to win!
okiedokiemama at yahoo dot com
I Love all three, but the Houndstooth is beautiful! I'm no help with the marking or the patterns because I like to make my own patterns! (I'm bad at following directions) Thanks for the giveaway.
I love the houndstooth and floral. I use the marking pin that is water soluable. i use the purple side (air) more than the blue. Thank you for this give away
skowens (at) sbcglobal (dot) net
I loooove the floral wallet!
christina_mcmullan(at)hotmail(dot)com
I love the hounds tooth wallet. They are all so beautiful- you did a great job making them!
I really like Jalie patterns. They are knit and knit is so forgiving when it comes to fitting!
brooke at richardchurch dot com
I love all of those, but I think my favorite is the gold one. My fav marking pen is one I found at a little quilt shop. Blue Water Erasable by Clover. It even has an erasing pen on the other end.
love the red wallet! my favorite marking tool is a water soluble graphite pencil made by prismacolor.
I love the floral wallet! So pretty!
Amy
abcsemartin(at)yahoo(dot)com
I love the floral wallet-beautiful!
I use water soluable pens.
mcintoshsusan(at)hotmail(dot)com
I like the gold organza purse. I use different marking tools depending on the fabric, colour and project. I have a selection of chalk pencils, chaco marker, water soluble pens and a hera marker
my fave is the sewline trio pencil.... has black and white chalk with an eraser and also a metal stylis for me to trace carbon paper easily... best thing I Have used and easy to have everything you need around
I like the flower/dot wallet - very cute! I usually mark with tailors chalk - it doesn't work great, but the disappearing ink disappears before I want it to!
beth(dot)sebastian(at)gmail(dot)com
I like the Amy Butler print wallet! Pretty. I've been dying to try Collette patterns.
Hi, I love the flowery little wallet...so I don't know if you can get this sort of pen...we use it for marking medical waste bags..it's from MED.MARK.
Thank you for the chance to win this wonderful prize.
Kind regards from Germany.
Claudia
frauknopf@gmx.de
I like the floral cotton wallet. All are lovely. And I wish I could say I have a better marking product but I don't use anything but the pen or pencil or whatever is on hand--I don't make these cute little wallets either so. . .
I love the black wallet--and yes, I am serious. :)
I haven't found a marker that works well, either! Good luck in your search.
I have the same problem as you. I haven't found a good marking tool either. Maybe you'll get some good suggestions here. I love the houndstooth wallet.
humm...the most effective tool I have is a stub of VERY old seamstress chalk. I like my water soluable pen from joanns well enough but it sounds like that isnt working for you...I havebeen know to use my daughters crayola markers...they wash and they show up
Lovely wallets hard to choose---- floral or gold, you can put my entry in the less coveted...they are all great!
I use chalk, like sidewalk chalk, since that's what we have all over the house and it's easy to find in a pinch.
theredkiwi{at}yahoo (dot) com
oh, and I LOVE the one with the red and white dotted inside.
I love the serious one. I still use tailors chalk.
Like you, I have bad luck with marking pencils and markers. Tailor's chalk is ok. I used an orange sharpie on my last project, but it was just on edges that were serged off, can't recommend that for darts!
ab3belote at gmail dot com
i dont do darts very often but i just use chalk... sorry!
xo Steph
I use a plain old pencil! I like the cotton print best!
I usually make my clothes patterns based on clothes I already have that I like certain elements of rather than using a pre-packaged pattern. I have a hard-to-fit shape, so mass produced patterns don't usually fit me very well. As for marking, I usually just use pins.
I have a tendency to use a plain old pencil. If the fabric is difficult or not machine-washable, I mark with thread.
Lovely little wallets, I especially like the floral one. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway!
I like the skinny chalk mechanical pencil.. I forget the brand... but I've seen them at my LQS.. they are great!
I love the red floral wallet! Great work.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Michelle
I like Frixion pens, which erase with heat from the iron. The ink sticks around, so I don't think I'd use them for an heirloom, but their great for most of my uses. I love all three pouches and would be honored to win any. But I think I like the houndstooth best! akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com
These wallets are adorable! I've been eyeing that pattern for a while now and it's nice to know that they are quick and easy to make. I love the gold one!
My favourite marking tools is a disappearing ink pen. As for adult patterns, I have yet to finish a garment from these patterns (just starting my planning) but I love Colette patterns as well as Japanese Sewing Pattern books.
Gold organza has my name on it. I don't have a good marking system either. I rely on thread that often disappears before I need it. I hope you post the best response.
My favourite woman patterns are for tunics - knit fabric or woven. Necklines vary, with and without a collar. I prefer without; one pattern is near the top of the pile of things to be made.
mpwhelanpeng2000 *at* yahoo *dot* com
I use chalk or a ballpoint pen if the fabric is dark enough. :)
love the floral cotton one!
thanks for the chance!
I use chalk for clothes and dissapearing ink pen for home goods etc...
Love them all, but the houndstooth is my favorite!
I love the floral one but if that is taken I also like the houndstooth. I have a purple singer disappearing ink pen that I use for all my markings and I really like it.
I like the floral one best, but all three are really pretty.
Until recently, if I needed to mark my fabric, I just stole one of my daughters' Crayola washable markers. Simple, but works well as long as the project you're working on is washable.
chibidani at gmail dot com
I love the floral cotton pouch. Thanks for the giveaway.
Leena
Sonaleeleena@yahoo.co.in
I use a thin piece if soap bar... I find that when the soap gets too think to use in the shower it is perfect... let it get dried out then nice thin lines that was out!!! And I find that I like the harder soaps for this. the GUY soaps.. if you will that have less creams in them.
Good luck finding a line maker...
thank you for such a great give away!
I like the red flowery purse.
a piece of thread to mark
a piece of coal could work too
I like the gold one
These are all beautiful! I would choose the houndstooth and I have only used chalk.
I love the houndstooth one!
i use a regular pencil or a piece of normal chalk :)
karli
k_squared4t(at)hotmail(dot)com
I like to use tailor tacks or punch holes.
I love the houndstooth pouch! Thanks
I like the floral one. Umm. I use pencil. I know, I know.
It's a tie between the floral cotton and the houndstooth. And I have yet to find a marker that I like also. The comments have given me a few good ideas!
I love the all red one! I use a silver pencil from Roxanne (That Perfect Stitch) that works pretty well. Have white as well, but don't use it as much. And I never sew women's clothing since I can't seem to get a good fit. cathydevinney {2} gmail {dot}com
I like the gold organza wallet. And thanks for a link to the pattern, btw. I'll make one if I don't win!
My favorite marking tool depends on the fabric. Sometimes I use a regular pencil, sometimes one of those purple washable markers, sometimes tailor tacks.
Ugh, if you get a good suggestion, I want to know it! I am so frustrated with all of the marking things I've tried. I like all three pouches, but lean toward the floral. :) My email is in my profile.
I have yet to find a marking tool I like, I would love to see which suggestions worked for you :) Thanks for the opportunity to win, all three wallets are beautiful! darbishar(at)hotmail(dot)com
I use my quilter's chalk. It's not fabulous, but it's good enough. I like the houndstooth wallet the best. Merry Christmas!
umm, I use the transfer paper...that is propably 35 years old because it was my mom's. sometimes I use a soft pencil or a silver quilters pencil.
